Eligibility Requirements, Certification, and Participation
To participate in the program, a business must be a verified self-certified or certified as a minority, woman-owned, disadvantaged business enterprise, LGBT-owned, or veteran-owned, Small, Small Disadvantaged Business, HUBZone, which are defined as a business that is owned, controlled, and operated by a minority, woman, or disadvantaged, LGBT, veteran/disabled veteran group member, or as defined by the SBA as qualifying/certifying as Small, Small Disadvantage, or HUBZone group member. In order to be certified, a business must do the following:
- Must maintain 51% ownership and maintain daily control of their business
- Must be located in the U.S. or its territories
- Owner must be a U.S. citizen
A non-exclusive list of Certified Business Enterprise certifications recognized by UPMC can be found on the “Resource” tab. When an opportunity is available for the services your company provides, your information will be reviewed with the SCM Sourcing Team. You will be contacted by the Supplier Opportunity and Inclusion Program or a Sourcing representative and if appropriate a meeting scheduled.
